Workshops with Palmer and Gunn – May 2025

I had the most fabulous weekend in May with the lovely Fiona and Clancy of Palmer and Gunn hosting some more workshops, and since we have just announced a new date for October, I thought it would be a great time to share some photos.

On the Saturday, I held another interior photography workshop with a small group of ladies, which was delightful and relaxing as it was my second time running this workshop.

On Sunday, we hosted 16 guests in total across TWO half-day workshops, sharing our knowledge on capturing photos and videos with a smartphone.

It was a big and fulfilling weekend. Below is an overview of what we got up to!

Day 1: Interior photography workshop

Fiona and I looking fresh at the beginning of the weekend - my dog Marmalade joined us and she was such a good girl!

We spent the morning going over all my practical tips on gear, settings, lighting and composition before starting some hands on work shooting in the shed.

Fiona organised a delicious quiche and salad for lunch!

This was our lovely group.

After lunch we moved into the farmhouse, where I demonstrated how I shoot bracketed exposures to later step through a photo merge to produce an image like this where detail is preserved in both the light and fark parts of the image.

We wrapped up the afternoon with some more chat through the business of photography before an editing session and afternoon tea!

Day 2: Smartphone photo & video workshop

We began the day with a full-house for the morning workshop with an amazing group, including some interior designers, small business owners, and short-term-stay hosts.

We started the workshop with a session, presented by both Fiona and I, full of the nitty-gritty techniques and settings we use to capture shots on our phones.

We followed this up with a morning tea before splitting into groups and taking turns in the shed and farmhouse, with our guests trying their hand with all the information we had just unloaded on them!

I caught one of our afternoon session guests trying to capture this lovely view from the shed, towards the farmhouse. My suggestion to her was to bend down a smidge to ensure the top of that sunlit palm tree was in view and what a fun shot this makes!

The reason we have decided to run this workshop again but in a full-day format is so we can spend more time with our guests helping them compose shots, finesse their technique, guide them with content-generation planning and a longer diver into editing reels for Instagram - which is quite a detailed affair!

I love hosting workshops with Fiona! What a fab team we make and I can’t wait to do it again xxx
