A week in Greece – 2025

It’s an abomination that I completely forgot about sharing my Greece photos with you all.

Now if you don’t remember, and you are wondering why these photographs look very lo-fi… It’s because I photographed them all on a Pentax 17 film camera. In fact, other than my iPhone, I only took photos on this film camera during our week in Greece.

More specifically, we spent our time based in a small fishing village named Kalami on the island of Corfu. It was honestly the best week of my trip to Europe in 2025. I put this down to the pace at which we spent our days in Kalami.

I will never forget our first meal in Greece. My mother-in-law booked us a table at a local taverna. I have never even noticed the plastic chairs we were seated on, only that we were on the rocky shore of the beach and as they brought us the menus, carafes of pink Greek rosé, soft pita and taromasalata the sun was slowly setting behind the mountain above the shoreline. The crystal waters begun to shimmer with pastel tones of pink, yellow and blue and I couldn’t believe my eyes. The water gently lapped the pale stones, and it felt like pure poetry.

Our days were a mix of lazy walks around the headlands, mythos beer on the hotel balcony, boat rides, meals with views of the sea and bouyant swims in the salty sea.

For one of the last mornings in Greece I walked myself down to a secluded cove for sunrise. We had been surprised to see eucalypt trees growing happily amongst the conifers and olive trees here earlier in the week. Cicadas whirred in the treetops as the sun began to lift skywards, and a fisherman sung to himself as his boat bobbed around in the waters off shore.
