By the hillside – Lauren Jones
They say a garden will grow where you tend to it.
Over a year ago, from our two respective hilltops, Lauren Jones and I plotted a collaboration of sorts.
There was something spirited about these pure white petals framing a crown of pollen-dusted stamens, atop tall sturdy stems that captured both of our hearts. So we waited for them to bloom once again in my rainforest garden – I styled and photographed them, and Lauren has turned them into works of art.
I have not lived on Mount Glorious now for months, and the garden seems to be thriving without my interference.
On a recent visit to my untended garden, I was greeted by a mass of angelic Japanese anemones in full bloom– the best they have ever been.
Seeing Lauren's artworks now, as I slowly come to terms with fully releasing this garden from my care, is a gentle reminder of what is possible in both a home and a garden.
That you must allow it time and patience for it to become what you dreamt it to be – a garden that takes on a life of its own.
