Winton Luxury BNB Tenterfield

Before the year was out, we managed to get away to our favourite country town, Tenterfield, just once more. With a sponsored trip by Airbnb on offer, making my decision on where to go and where to stay was a pretty simple one.

I had heard rumours that Winton Luxury BnB was a must-stay and it lived up to its reputation.

The front facade is picture perfect and I was quite taken with the daisies growing by the front window. The house was also full of blooms from the garden - infinitely better than any bought bunch. Each room had a posy of either hydrangeas, gardenias, zinnias or Cecile Brunner roses.

I had been told that Kerrie, the host, makes a fabulous afternoon tea and she sure didn’t disappoint. Upon checking in, we were asked at what time we would like afternoon tea, and not long after our tea and scones were brought to the sitting room. I opened the windows to hear the sparrows and blackbirds.

Kerrie’s breakfast was as aesthetically pleasing as it was delicious and was the most warming way to start the day. Especially when accompanied by a visit by Mr Darcy (the schnauzer).

And so, I can conclude that the rumours are true. Do yourself a favour and stay.

Old Council Chambers, Tenterfield

I love seeing an old building rejuvenated and brought back to life. You can’t build something new and expect it to have the same feeling and ambience as something old.

Tenterfield, just three hours drive from Brisbane, is a favourite country town of mine to visit, my parents are also equally in love with the place.

When I saw that a new boutique accomodation had popped up last year on the Tenterfield scene, I was desperate to get there fast. Steve and Bianca, the owners of The Old Council Chambers have done the most amazing job of bringing the neglected building back to life.

We booked a weekend there in February, earlier this year. Myself and my husband in Chambers 1 and my parents booked Chambers 2 - so we were fortunate to have the whole place to ourselves.

Upon arrival it was like walking into a beautiful Pinterest board.

Yep.

Both chambers were welcoming with huge bunches of fresh foliage throughout the spaces. Below is Chambers 1.

And below here is a shot of Chambers 2 and the outdoor area.
